Third-grade students at Rossman School were treated to a lesson and demonstration in muskets by Education Director Bill Brecht April 1. Brecht and docent Orion Melton showed the steps in firing, shot two blank rounds and answered tons of questions from the students. Above, being a good neighbor means cooperating with the city of St. Charles to inform everyone that the gunfire is harmless and expected. Each year, more than 3,000 students in school groups visit, getting customized lessons from retired professional teachers on all the aspects of the Lewis & Clark Expedition and the history of St. Charles.
