Get Inspired to Travel the Lewis & Clark Trail
A coalition of Lewis & Clark focused organizations, including the Discovery Expedition of St. Charles, has built a website to inspire travelers seeking to follow in the fabled footsteps of the Corps of Discovery. With more than 2,000 stops identified, a calendar of trail events and curated itineraries, Trip Inspirations – Lewis and Clark Trail Experience, offers a fantastic set of resources to connect to the legendary chapter in American History.
Spearheaded by the Lewis & Clark Trail Alliance, the Lewis and Clark Trail Experience (lewisandclark.travel) offers both a website and app for connecting to the trail. From pizza joints to powwows, from float trips to Floyd’s grave, you learn about destinations and stops along the way. Dozens of themed or location-centric suggestions can help you tailor a journey that matches your interests.
“As a partner with the Trail Alliance, it’s cool to see people visit our museum who have been traveling the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail and hear them share their experiences,” said Bob Foster, director of the Lewis & Clark Boat House and Museum. “The story of Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, Sacagawea, York, and the other expedition members and native peoples from 1803-1805 continues to have relevance and hold fascination for every generation. Following the trail is a wonderful way to put yourself in the shoes of the people who lived 225 years ago.”
