Film Series takes to historic St. Charles
In the latest work on our Lewis & Clark Film Series, the Discovery Expediton of St. Charles visited the Historic Daniel Boone Home to capture scenes telling the story of the original expedition in the St. Charles area in May 1804.
“The Boone Home filming for the film series was a great opportunity to showcase our hometown and tell a local story that’s integral to the overall expedition,” said DESC Board Chairman Jan Donelson. “Though the shooting schedule got scrambled and we were sweating whether we could complete all the scenes in the script due to darkness, personal schedules, planning around a site event, and even length of scenes, the content that was shot was really good.”
“Many of the participants have said they believe this is the best yet and since we are all novices in this endeavor, sometimes it is trial and error to build the experience in order to strive for excellence,” said Donelson. “The goal is to produce a quality end product for all to enjoy and learn.”
Thanks to all: There are so many great people involved who have done an awesome job, behind or in front of the camera, it takes everyone. The Mission we are embarked upon has many facets to share our Nation’s history. I urge those who have gained exposure thru this Film Series to learn more by participating in our next event at Fort Massac, Oct. 14th-16th. Look for details on purchasing the series for your school or homeschool group, historic site or personal education soon.
The series is being produced with funding from the National Park Service, Lewis & Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, Bass Pro Shops, The Holton Family Foundation and in memory of Marita Ulhaas Parker.
